Welcome to MetaClean ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our online metadata removal tools and the MetaClean app for Android.

2.1 Files You Process

Important: All file processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to our servers or transmitted over the internet. They remain on your device at all times, ensuring complete privacy.

2.2 Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies for the following purposes:

• Essential Cookies: To remember your cookie consent preferences
• Analytics Cookies: Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics to understand website traffic and improve our services

You can control cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner or your browser settings.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Vercel Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to analyze website traffic and improve our services. Vercel Analytics collects anonymous information such as page views, visitor counts, and browsing patterns. This data is used solely for understanding how visitors use our site and to improve user experience.

Important: We do not track individual users, collect personal information, or share analytics data with third parties. The data is used exclusively for internal improvement purposes.

3.2 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze website usage. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This information is transmitted to and stored by Google.

Important: We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses where possible. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. MetaClean for Android

The MetaClean Android app works like the website: your files are processed only on your phone and are never uploaded, copied or transmitted. The app has no accounts and asks for no email, phone number or other personal information.

4.1 Usage Events (Optional)

Only if you agree when the app first starts, it sends anonymous usage events through Google Firebase Analytics: the screens you visit, the file types you process (for example "image" or "pdf"), how many sensitive fields a scan found, and whether a file contained GPS coordinates (yes or no only). These events carry no advertising ID and no per-user identifier. If you decline, which is the default, nothing is collected. You can turn this off at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous Analytics.

4.2 Crash Reports

If you installed the app from Google Play, crashes are reported anonymously through Google Play (Android vitals). These reports contain technical diagnostics only, such as stack traces, the device model and the Android version, and never personal data, file names or file content.

4.3 Location and Maps

The app reads GPS coordinates from your photos only to show them on a map on your screen; they never leave your device. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap over HTTPS.

4.4 Advertising

The app currently shows no ads. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy and the app's Data safety section on Google Play before they appear.

5. Data Security

Since all file processing occurs in your browser, we do not store, process, or transmit your files. This client-side approach ensures:

• Maximum privacy - your files never leave your device
• No risk of data breaches from our servers
• Complete control over your sensitive documents
• Ability to use the tools offline (once the page is loaded)

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request information about data we hold about you
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
• Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured format
• Right to Object: Object to processing of your data
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for cookie usage at any time

Since we don't collect or store your files, these rights primarily apply to cookie data. You can clear cookies through your browser settings at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of our services after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
